Bay Area Sports Talk Association (BASTA)

BASTA is an up-and-coming independent sports blog dedicated to bringing you unique insight on your favorite Bay Area teams. Our original content has been consistenly featured on MLB Trade Rumors. We were founded by Apurv Baichwal, Sam Maluth, and Daniel Halteh in 2012, and we were revamped by Apurv Baichwal and Ben Leonard when they took over ownership at the beginning of 2014.

Ben Leonard

Ben, a senior at Crystal Springs Uplands School, is an experienced credentialed writer for Sports Radio Service, as well as Rule of Tree, Stanford’s SBNation site, Breaking Modern, and OutsidePitchLLC, an official affiliate of the MLB. He has spent time in the press box and media room for Sports Radio Service at San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, Stanford Men’s Basketball, and San Jose Sabercats games. Some of his work at Rule of Tree and Sports Radio Service has been featured on Bleacher Report. His writing for BASTA has been featured on MLBTradeRumors.com.

 

 

Apurv Baichwal

Founder, Editor-in-Chief, Site Manager

A lifelong Bay Area resident, Apurv founded BASTA in early 2012, and now has over three years of experience with the blog. He has written extensively about all Bay Area sports teams, but he focuses on the 49ers and Giants. He created the first iteration of the BASTA blog in late 2012 and matured it into the independent sports blog that it is today through daily content and day-to-day management. Also a senior at Crystal Springs Uplands, Apurv has been involved with sports since the day he could walk, competing nationally as a third degree black belt in taekwondo. He has extensive experience with management and finances, skills he brought to BASTA.

 

Joe Lami

Lead Hockey Writer, Public Relations Director

Joe has been working in sports media for eight years.  Starting in radio, Lami has been the play-by-play voice for Bay Area high school football and basketball for KCEA.  He continued his work in radio for Stanford, being the play-by-play voice Stanford Women’s Basketball and the sideline reporter for Stanford Football.  Some of his career highlights include multiple NCAA tournaments, as well as some of Stanford’s biggest football games in program history.  Lami worked in the media relations office for the now-defunct San Francisco Bulls hockey franchise, there from game one until the team’s last horn, and brought his passion of hockey to BASTA. Joe will be receiving his B.A. in communications from San Francisco State University in December.

   

Lizzie Siegle

A Bay Area native, Lizzie is a sophomore computer science and English student at Bryn Mawr College near Philadelphia. She covers sports for the Bi-College News, has written for the Sidelines App, and plays tennis at the Division III Level.

  1. one piece pole that makes it more rigid, less shaky and it gives it more strength.

    Tim Duncan is the highest-rated power forward in NBA 2K15 but does not appear in the top five
    ratings in NBA Live 15. In the 2000’s the Heat started to make some significant changes.
